Give and get support around quitting

Varenacline

I took varenicline about 5 years ago to stop smoking for back surgery. Worked fine but stopped taking it. Had one cigarette and on we go. I'm trying again but had side effects after about a week. My doc prescribed just .5 mg for a week then .5 mg twice a day. It really affected my stomach. Pain and burning. Also anxiety went way up. Very disappointing as I really hoped for different results. Stopped it today. Anybody else go through this or did my older age just make my body more sensitive?

Molly Leis with Mayo Clinic talked about this on another blog recently.
Here is a picture of her comment  and I tagged you on that post.

other than her suggestions I’m not sure what to say.  Talk to your doctor about it.  It helped you quit before so it would be great if you could use it again.  If not, there are several other options too from other medication to NRTs.  And you have the support of this EX community!!

@borromeo23 Welcome back.  Glad you haven't given up on your quit.  I was just going to share the same thing from the Mayo.  Hope it helps you.

There are other aids available also!

Let us know if you try the tips provided and how they work. I quit with Chantix and know it can work well.  Hope you figure out how to do so!
